SAWLAKIA:
is an impressive dance originating from Mara communities in the southern part of
Mizoram.This dance is known as 'Sawlakia' by the Mara. In olden days when
the different tribes were constantly at war with each other, a ceremony to deride the vanquished beheaded
skull of the enemy was usually held by the victor. This
ceremony is performed to ensure that the vanquished
soul remains a slave to the victor even when the latter
also dies.
Motto:-
"Maraland is ours" (old Motto)
"For God and Maraland" (New Motto)
It has been desired for a long time that, we the Mara Students' should have some sort of Organisation in order to guide us
and give us better understanding and co-orperation in the
upliftment of our people. So, on the 20th April, 1965, an Organisation is found out and called "Mara Students'
Organisation."
NOMENCLATURE:
The name of the Organisation shall be "Mara Students' Organisation," which shall herein after
be referred to as the "Organisation," MSO shall be its short form of the organisation.
HEADQUARTER:
The headquarter of the organisation shall be Siaha the capital of Maraland. but it can be shifted to any convenient place
within the Maraland at any time.
FOUDATION DAY:
Since this Association was established on 4.11.1965 the very day in very year shall be observed by the Hqrs, Ji, Hqrs &
Sub-Hqrs Jt. Comt. and any branch of this Organisation as foundation day.
